It has been a long journey of new releases over the course of 2020 for Stephen, and now he has finally released his long-awaited album Akrasia. ‘Akrasia’ is defined as, “the state of mind in which someone acts against their better judgment through weakness of will.”

To celebrate the release, Stephen posted a unique stream on his YouTube channel where fans got to intimately hear every track in order. While we are familiar with a few songs already, Akrasia centers around “Idiot.” This song is Stephen expressing how he felt like an ‘idiot’ exploring his wrongdoings, and accepting the process that made him the best version of himself. The entire album takes us along an emotional excursion of his struggles with compulsive desires, love, addiction, meditation, and self-discovery.

After listening to the singles released ahead of Akrasia earlier this year such as, “I Never Stay in Love,” “TRACER,” “Stray Nights,” and “Delilah” Stephen’s fans began to get a clear idea of the new direction he was taking as an artist. Through each of these raw and honest songs, he continued to captivate his audience because of his ability to be so vulnerable.

Akrasia also marks a major milestone for Stephen as it is his first album release since his Lyme disease diagnosis in 2016. It followed his widely respected debut album Sincerely that featured hit single, “Crossfire” which amassed over 200 million streams to date. The diagnosis took him off the map for a while, and he had to remove himself from the fast-paced lifestyle of an LA-based artist. After completing lots of self-reflection, he transformed himself into the artist that we know today and produced his most genuine work yet.

Since the early days of his career in 2015, Stephen has earned a loyal fan base as an independent artist. His music has been covered by a range of other top media outlets and praised worldwide. He also recently launched his podcast series which discusses his life journey with friends and experts.

Rising DJ, producer, and content creator, Ciara Graves, has been a dedicated Writer & Editor for The Nocturnal Times while simultaneously crafting her most electrifying projects yet. Having originally produced under the alias Graveheart for a few years, she is now working towards taking a more sophisticated approach with her music by focusing on the meaningful connection between the visual and auditory realms. Ciara studied Music Production & Recording Arts at Elon University '20 and completed Icon Collective's online music production program in Spring '21.
