Alok Makes Experts Only Debut on John Summit’s Label with DJ Glen & ICARUZ with “Weekend Warriors”
Brazilian electronic music star Alok joins forces with underground house veteran DJ Glen and producer ICARUZ for their new single “Weekend Warriors,” out today via John Summit’s Experts Only. Built around a driving, bass-heavy house sound, the collaboration brings together three artists with distinct backgrounds in electronic music for a club-focused record that pays tribute to the people who keep dance music culture moving, both on and off the dancefloor.
“Weekend Warriors” is built around a rolling bassline, punchy four-on-the-floor drums, and a hypnotic, repetitive vocal hook. Drawing on tech-house influences, the track layers crisp percussion, sharp electronic stabs, and playful vocal phrases into a driving, percussion-heavy production. Rather than relying on oversized drops or melodic breakdowns, the arrangement builds momentum through subtle shifts in rhythm and texture, maintaining a steady, late-night intensity throughout.
The track’s origins stretch back approximately three years, beginning with DJ Glen, who initially conceived the record as a tribute to his late friend Ortega, a VJ who passed away during a performance roughly a decade ago. What began as a personal dedication gradually evolved into a broader celebration of the people working behind the scenes in electronic music, from DJs and VJs to producers, technicians, road crews, and promoters. As the project developed, ICARUZ and Alok joined the creative process, bringing their respective production approaches to a record rooted in the shared experiences and community surrounding dance music.
The collaboration brings together artists with different histories and perspectives within electronic music. DJ Glen, born Glen Faedo, has spent more than two decades immersed in Brazil’s underground house scene, with releases on influential imprints including Dirtybird, Cajual, CUFF, and Musical Freedom. ICARUZ, the electronic project associated with Belgian producer Yves V, draws on a career spanning international dance music stages and productions across multiple electronic styles. Together with Alok, one of Brazil’s most internationally recognized electronic artists, they connect Brazil’s underground house scene with the wider global electronic music landscape.
The release on Experts Only further connects Alok’s recent club-focused output with the international underground house circuit. Founded by John Summit, the imprint has established itself as a platform for dancefloor-driven electronic music, making it a natural home for the record’s bass-heavy, percussion-driven sound. For Alok, “Weekend Warriors” follows a series of releases exploring different sides of club music, including “Keep Up” with Argy and Adam Beyer, “Mind Illuminate” with SIDEPIECE and Victor Ruiz, and his four-track Rave The World EP.
The single also arrives as Alok joins John Summit for eight dates of his CTRL ESCAPE North American Arena Tour, beginning October 23 at Montreal’s Bell Centre. The run includes appearances at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena, Boston’s TD Garden, Houston’s Toyota Center, and Austin’s Moody Center, extending the connection between the two artists beyond the Experts Only label.
Beyond his recent collaborations, Alok continues to expand Rave The World, his creative platform spanning a record label and global live experience. Launched earlier this year, the project draws inspiration from the original values of rave culture, including unity, freedom, respect, and collective connection through music. With performances at London’s O2 Academy Brixton, Tomorrowland Belgium, Pacha New York, and Brazil’s Laroc Club, Rave The World continues to expand internationally, bringing Alok’s club-focused sound and immersive live concept to audiences around the world.
