The friendship between ATB’s André Tanneberger and Markus Schulz is one of a unique descent, long-established over a decade plus. What started out as a recent catch-up coffee turned into an impromptu studio session when Schulz payed a visit to his old friend during a trip this Summer to the German city of Bochum.
“A dozen?!” says Schulz, getting a read on how many years he and ATB have been mulling over a studio team-up. “Maybe even longer” Tanneberger reckons. “Whatever, you can’t rush these things, can you?!”
When the two dance scene veterans managed to catch up in their home country at the end of Summer 2018, they finally got the job done. The perfect production crush, their first studio collab undoubtedly drops with a bang.
“Heartbeat” is the debut track for ATB’s very own Ruhrtone Records, released via Kontor. The pair have finally come together for the release of this track, and it arrives as a dancefloor igniting soundtrack that’s even better than we had imagined.
It’s amazing to consider that this is the first time the guys have worked together as they immediately found themselves on the same wavelength. Each artist brought their own skill sets to the forefront for this project, bringing us both the Original Mix and the Festival Mix. The Original Mix unifies majestic piano chimes and sweeping, classical strings, leading into the mainline brilliance we associate with each producer, going straight for the heart.
The Festival Mix on the other hand expands “Heartbeat,” instinctively zeroing in on its club-driven core. DJ Mag again adds, “This is how collaborations should be…a feel-good blast, full of big string sequences, instinctive notes and a simple, yet devastatingly effective vocal.” Take a listen for yourself below and be sure to let this one ignite your inner spark out there – whether at home, in the club, or out on the festival grounds.
You can buy/stream “Heartbeat” today here.
