MTV VMAs 2016 Nominees Announced Ahead of MSG Ceremony Next Month

Voting is now open for the 2016 MTV VMAs following official nomination revealing

 

The nominees have been announced for the 33rd annual MTV Video Music Awards, which return to New York City in late August. The VMAs will take over the world’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden on Aug. 28 at 9 pm EST.

 

It’s been quite a big year for music, which is why it should come as no surprise that the videos nominated have created a buzz over the course of the year. The coveted Video of the Year category this year includes nominees Adele (“Hello”); Beyoncé (“Formation”); Drake (“Hotline Bling”); Justin Bieber (“Sorry”); and Kanye West (“Famous”).

 

MTV has introduced a Best Electronic Video category this year. In the electronic department, Calvin Harris leads the pack with multiple nominations for “This Is What You Came For” feat. Rihanna.

 

The Best Electronic Video category for this year’s VMAs include Calvin Harris & Disciples “How Deep Is Your Love;” 99 Souls feat. Destiny’s Child & Brandy “The Girl Is Mine;” Mike Posner “I Took A Pill In Ibiza;” Afrojack “SummerThing!;” and The Chainsmokers feat. Daya “Don’t Let Me Down.”

 

As far as overall nominations Beyoncé scores 11 nods following the release of her video album ‘Lemonade.’ Adele earned eight nominations for this year’s awards ceremony, followed by Drake with five nominations.
