Pegassi Unveils “Ascension” the Title Track of His Forthcoming Debut EP
Pegassi unveils “Ascension”, the title track of his forthcoming debut EP of the same name on Sweet Nothing, ahead of the full EP release on September 4th. Built on hard dance energy and driving bass, with UK garage-inspired percussion and hi-hats underneath a robotic vocal, the track has been a staple in his live sets for two years before making its way to record.
“‘Ascension’ has been part of my sets for two years now. Every time I played it, the reaction told me it was ready, I just needed the right moment to release it. It feels like the right way to open this chapter” – Pegassi
“Ascension” marks the first chapter of Pegassi’s debut EP on his own Sweet Nothing label, offering an early look at a project that spans different sides of his sound. The EP follows a year in which Pegassi delivered his BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, a standout set at Awakenings, and premiered his own AV show at Tomorrowland, and arrives ahead of a run of shows that includes Nibirii Festival, a Sweet Nothing edition in Berlin and his show at The Edge in New York as well as ahead of his sold-out All Day Long show during Amsterdam Dance Event. The cowbell has become one of the most recognisable signatures of Pegassi’s live sets, and his latest ‘Strangers’ remix, recently shared on SoundCloud, adds another entry to a catalogue that has been building momentum since ‘Yoyoyo’ first put him on the map.
He has rapidly established himself as one of the leading names in the new wave of European rave music, with high-energy sets at Tomorrowland, Awakenings and EDC Las Vegas. ‘Ascension’ arrives as a clear statement of where his sound stands, and a first look at what the full EP will bring when it lands later this year.
