Every country in the world has been dealing with the ongoing pandemic in their own manner, and while 2020 is finally coming to a close, it looks like we still have a long way to go until things are back to normal. Certain places have been hit harder than others, and unfortunately, the sacred dance music island of Ibiza is one of them. With all things nightlife and tourism at a halt since March, the beloved White Isle is sadly in complete economic turmoil.

Luckily, the king of techno and legendary Ibiza mainstay, Carl Cox has come to the rescue, as he’s volunteered to partake in the first edition of Universe and Secret Society‘s Ibiza Soul Food fundraiser stream via the Woov platform. Alongside Bushwacka, Syreeta, and Secret Societys own Mark Greene, the Ibiza Soul Food concept consists of a series of online events in support of the Ibiza Food Bank. Together with over 250 volunteers, the prominent Balearic Island charity is delivering food to those urgently in need all over the island.

The first rendition of Ibiza Soul Food took place this past weekend, providing four wholesome hours of striking sounds to music lovers across the board. Priced at £2.00 per person, every Euro generated directly benefited the Ibiza food banks to help the people of Ibiza survive through the winter. The virtual fundraiser is set to take place on a weekly basis moving forward, delivering fresh food items such as meat, fish, eggs and yogurt to 5000-6000 residents after each event. What a beautiful thing it is knowing that the power of music can make such a tremendous difference in others’ lives.

As the holy ground of electronic music, Ibiza brings in millions of music lovers from across the globe each year. Its unparalleled music scene has given so much to the electronic music community over time, and now it is our turn to give something back to the beloved island’s people. Ibiza just would not be Ibiza without them. Carl Cox himself considers the stunning island a second home, and his attachment to Ibiza and its kindhearted natives has been noted as he leads this extraordinary fundraising initiative to save its glory.

“Ibiza has been a 2nd home to me for many years. The island is a breeding ground of creativity, amazing friendships and incredible people. Some of these people now need our help in these turbulent times and I’m super excited to be part of the first Ibiza Soul Food edition.” -Carl Cox

Currently based in Houston & Miami, I hope to inspire others through my writing. Electronic dance music has become a passion and a form of inspiration in my life, and I wouldn't change it for the world. I aspire to share this passion of mine with others and help them understand the uplifting potential it can have on our lives!
