One listen through of her new single “Spinnin” gives a pure glimpse into LOVRA’s entire musical world. US singer/songwriter Justin Jesso couldn’t have been more of an ideal start to bring alongside this track. Working on previous songs like “Stargazing” with Kygo, Justin’s voice lends itself to insane heights, and “Spinnin” is no exception. LOVRA brings upbeat dance energy, lighthearted synths, and groovy house lines to this track which make it a slam dunk for a summer tune. Laced with sunshine vibes and golden tones, “Spinnin” is a feel-good track we could all use on repeat.

From a very young age, LOVRA was deeply passionate about music. Naturally creative and with a desire to fully grow into her artistic direction, it wasn’t long before LOVRA felt the siren call of the world’s creative epicentre, Berlin. Moving to the German capital was, she says, one of the best decisions she ever made. Jumping further into her career, In 2018 LOVRA found herself on the radar of none other than David Guetta, the house music legend signing her for a run of 17 dates as an official resident at BIG, his huge party at Ibiza’s world famous Ushuaia Beach Club. From such an incredible opportunity sprung the rest of a string of successes.

We had the chance to speak with LOVRA about “Spinnin,” upcoming projects like a new podcast, house and techno, the future and much more. Read on in our interview below.

Nocturnal Times: Hey LOVRA! Thanks so much for giving us your time today. I’m sure you’re super busy with the new single”‘Spinnin” – what has the reaction been like from fans so far?

LOVRA: Hello, thanks for having me! 🙂 It’s a very exciting time with “Spinnin” out right now.

The reactions from my community aka ‘Lovrs’ couldn’t have been nicer so far. Everyone is really excited about the collaboration with Justin and we are getting a lot of support.

Nocturnal Times: We haven’t had the opportunity to catch you play out live yet here in the States, are you planning to come here any time soon?

LOVRA: I am a huge fan of the States! One of my biggest dreams is to finally do my first USA tour. It would be a big new step and I really hope that I get the chance to do it very soon and play my music live with you guys.

Nocturnal Times: Your new music features none other than Justin Jesso on the vocals, who we all know from Kygo’s huge hit single “Stargazing.” How did the collaboration with Justin come together?

LOVRA: Justin Jesso and I met in Ibiza at Ushuaia in 2018. I played a show in front of David Guetta back then and we got to talking after the show and got along great. Since then we’ve stayed in touch a lot. Even back then we wanted to do a collaboration together and I am super happy that it has now worked out with my new single “Spinnin.”

Nocturnal Times: You’re now based in Berlin, which we normally associate with techno but of course your sound is much more ‘house’. Is the house scene in Berlin just as vibrant as the techno one, or do you have to look harder for it?

LOVRA: Berlin stands for a distinctive techno scene which I really love and appreciate.

For my housy sound there are not very many places, but even in Berlin there are one or two events for house music. But I’ll let you in on a little secret, in Berlin from time to time I also like to play from some techno sets. well… I’m a girl from Berlin haha so I have to let the techno out from time to time 😉

Nocturnal Times: How important is being part of the German electronic music scene for you? Do you feel like you’re representing a particularly German strain of house music or does your sound have a more ‘global’ appeal?

LOVRA: It is very important to me to be a big part of the German electronic scene. Germany is my home and this is where it all started. I am also very grateful to my German fans for their love and loyalty.

But my sound is more for the global market. It has always been very important for me to be international. I am cosmopolitan with my music, not only with my music but with my whole personality. I love to meet new people and cultures and to share my music with the whole planet. I am very inspired by the English market and you can recognize that in my music. I fell in love with the UK music scene a few years ago and wanted to go the same way musically. I like the groove and the bouncing basslines and especially the voices that belong to this house music. House and tech house take me to another level, they shoot me into another universe. That’s the feeling I want to share with people.

Nocturnal Times: Back in 2018 you were asked by David Guetta to open for him across the summer season at his BIG party in the legendary Ushuaia. What was that experience like and how did it change you as a DJ?

LOVRA: It was an overwhelming feeling! When I had the first request for the residency at Ushuaia Ibiza for David Guetta in 2018, well at first I thought the email had gone to me by mistake, because I couldn’t believe I was getting a full on residency. It was a huge dream come true and then in 2019 I was able to tie it up again and enjoy my second year as resident DJ for David Guetta. The feeling of djing every month for one of the biggest producers and DJs in the legendary Ushuaia Club in Ibiza is by far the craziest feeling. It was like being in a dream that you never want to wake up from. I had to pinch myself often to realize that was real. I met so many great artists and people from all over the world, it was an experience that made me grow beyond myself. Many doors opened and I was grateful to have passed through them. I also grew musically during this time and took a lot of inspiration from it. It was a great time that showed me I am on the right path and that I should also dare to do things, to seize the opportunities that come my way. I can’t wait to play in Ibiza again. It has become my second home.

Nocturnal Times: What else are you working on right now? We heard there might be a new podcast in the making. Are you allowed to tell us a little bit more about what it is, and what you want listeners to hear?

LOVRA: Yes, that is correct. 😉 The podcast will be about the whole music business and nightlife. From the DJ to the bouncer to the bartender, all of them have great stories and anecdotes to tell and that’s what I want to show my listeners.  And of course I want to show a lot of newcomers and music.

Nocturnal Times: Where would you like to be in ten years time?

LOVRA: In 10 years exactly at this time, I would like to be starting the summer tour circuit again, which is what normally happens every year. I want to still be successful in 10 years and to be able to create unforgettable memories with the people at festivals or in clubs.
