Carl Cox, one of the most influential and respected DJs in the world, has announced that he will not be performing at Ultra Miami 2024, the flagship event of the Ultra Music Festival series. Cox took to social media today to shed some light on this year’s vacancy, citing his desire to perform at a number of international events instead. The techno legend, whose performances on the stupefying RESISTANCE Megastructure are considered one of Ultra’s biggest draws, also revealed that he’s been confirmed for a headlining set at the festival’s 2025 edition.

However, Cox has not forgotten his loyal fans in Miami. He promises to return with a bang in 2025, saying that he has “something very special” in store for them. He also invites them to join him at Miami’s M2 nightclub on May 3rd, 2024, where he will play for RESISTANCE Miami, a week-long series of events that coincides with the Ultra festival.

“Although I’ve loved playing at Ultra Miami 19 times over the past 22 years, I won’t be making it this time as I’m taking the opportunity to play at some incredible events around the world. But don’t worry – I’m cooking up something extra special for my headlining set at Ultra Music Festival 2025, where we will be celebrating their massive 25th anniversary!” – Carl Cox

Cox also shared his thoughts on the current state and future of electronic music, which he said is constantly evolving and expanding. He said that he is optimistic and excited about the new generation of producers and DJs, who are bringing fresh ideas and sounds to the scene. He also said that he is always open to learning and experimenting with new technologies and genres, as long as they have soul and groove.

Cox’s announcement comes as Ultra Miami 2024 has revealed its full lineup, featuring some of the biggest names in electronic music, such as Marshmello, Zedd, Alesso, Hardwell, Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, David Guetta, and Swedish House Mafia. The festival will take place from March 24th to 26th, 2024, at Bayfront Park in downtown Miami.
