ADE Distances Itself From Organizers of Party Featuring Controversial DJ Shlømo.

The Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) has distanced itself from the organizations Komplott and Overgave. They had planned to host a hard techno party during ADE featuring DJ Shlømo, who has been accused of abuse. “ADE has concluded that the organizers’ stance runs directly counter to ADE’s core values,” the festival organization wrote on Instagram.

The allegations against the French DJ followed leaked chat conversations suggesting he had engaged in sexually transgressive behavior. According to Dutch newpaper Het Parool, which spoke with the lawyer for one of the alleged victims, a criminal investigation is currently underway regarding “allegations of rape, death threats, and psychological abuse involving Shlømo.”

“Although ADE is a decentralized festival and the programming remains the responsibility of individual organizers, we do indeed uphold our mission,” the Amsterdam-based festival writes. Consequently, the ‘Komplott x Overgave’ party is no longer part of ADE. “Whether the party takes place independently is a decision left entirely to the organizers and the venue itself.”

Dutch DJs Xamuel and Within had previously withdrawn from the ‘Komplott x Overgave’ event. Earlier this year, Shlømo denied the allegations, claiming to be the “target of a smear campaign.”

The allegations have not yet been independently verified. Nevertheless, the French agency Steer Management decided earlier this year to terminate its partnership with the controversial DJ. Shlømo had already been barred from performing at Verknipt events as of March. “The safety, trust, and well-being of our visitors and community are central to everything we do,” the organizer wrote.
