It is not uncommon to hear remixes from artists that have passed away. So we are glad that the enigmatic Sickick is working with the late DMX‘s estate to ensure his music lives on. Teaming up with the talented Velvet Cash they give us one of the most anticipated DMX’s tracks in years posthumous collaboration “Long Live X.”

“DMX’s team told us that his dream was to always make an EDM album, and although he didn’t have that ability to do that before he passed, I made it my goal to try and make that happen. Through months of testing and carefully trying ideas, I finally landed on this EDM Festival Trap direction that I think speaks to his soul and the energy he brought to the grand stage.” – Sickick

Sickick’s journey making the song began back in 2021, when his mashup tribute to DMX first caught the ears of DMX’s estate. The tribute’s viral reach and heartfelt essence paved the way for a deeper exploration into a collaboration that the “Party Up” rapper had longed for, albeit in a realm he had yet to explore. But it would not be long until DMX’s estate would enlist the masked producer to help breathe life into an unfinished aspiration of his, creating an EDM album. Determined to make those aspirations a reality, the iconic rapper’s estate kickstarted the effort by providing Sickick with an unreleased hook and verse.

This incredible trio of artists employ an explosive fusion of rhythm and rhyme. DMX brings his characteristically commanding presence to the track amid Sickick’s hard-hitting 808s and soaring trap melodies. Meanwhile Velvet Cash brings a smooth vocal contrast to the table with the first silky verse, followed by a verse from Sickick. Most importantly this banger features the indomitable spirit of the late DMX. “Long Live X” is out now on all steaming platforms.
