GRAMMY Award-winning DJ/producer Purple Disco Machine has joined forces with French superstar Kungs for the release of their newest single, “Substitution.” The record is a groovy collaboration between the pair — one that you’ll have stuck in your head for hours, days, weeks, and probably even months. “Substitution” is available now through Sony Music Germany/RCA Records, with a coinciding official music video (watch below).

“Substitution” is a perfect marriage between the musical stylings of Purple Disco Machine and Kungs. Infusing elements of both artists’ signature sounds, “Substitution” also incorporates elements of Italo-disco and funk through the seamless usage of a sample from Alphaville’s 1984 smash, “Big in Japan.” Guaranteed to have you singing (or whistling, or humming, or bopping your head) along, “Substitution” is one of those records that immediately makes its way into your favorites of the year. Without question. Only a quarter of the way through the year, this surprising collab is one that we didn’t know we needed, but one that we’re rather grateful came to fruition. The record is a proper melding of two boogie-loving, top-tier electronic artists’ innate tastemaker abilities, embodying pure excitement and high-energy, a groovy and disco-heavy production, all wrapped up with a contagiously crafty and soaring topline.

Purple Disco Machine is fresh off a recent GRAMMY Award win for his Best Remixed Recording for his interpretation of Lizzo’s “About Damn Time.” The original song also went on to win Record of the Year. Following this year’s GRAMMY’s, Purple Disco Machine also took to Miami Music Week, where he delivered a memorable a showcase at the annual and prestigious DJ Mag pool party at The Sagamore.
