After a long wait since OTR independently released his 2018 EP, Unfold, he has announced he will release his debut album, Lost at Midnight on April 24th, which represents the unique single identity that Ryan Chadwick AKA OTR first found inspiration from in Japan.

To celebrate the announcement, OTR released a new single with Ukiyo “Midnight Sun” alongside an official music video on Astralwerks. The producers brought in an uplifting energy to this glistening track. The video, directed by Cameron Veitch, who also headed the videos for OTR’s 2019 singles, “Stay” and “Heart,” shows love that transcends through space and time.

“Midnight Sun” with Ukiyo bursts with lush melodies and glimmering synth lines and can be heard in the film ‘To All The Boys: P.S. I Still Love You’– the sequel to the most-watched Netflix film of 2018, ‘To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before.’ It also appears as a part of the original movie soundtrack, released last week by Capitol Records.

“I wrote the first draft of ‘Midnight Sun’ when I was in the middle of traveling to and from the West Coast for a few collaborations. There’s a moment when you’re flying at 30,000 feet where the sun sets below the horizon resulting in a faint glow barely visible behind the earth. I tried to capture that moment in ‘Midnight Sun.’ Working with Ukiyo on the final track was incredibly organic and I felt like he knew exactly what the vision was supposed to be.” – Ryan Chadwick, OTR

Ukiyo AKA Timothy Arnott has been an exceptionally busy Australian producer since 2016 with over 26 originals and remixes having been released. His work showcases a variety of styles, from hip-hop to soulection-styles, to heavily sampled, to chill-hop creations, and more. This year, the 23 year-old has big plans to play many dates in the United States and Australia along with a release of an illustrious LP.

Lost At Midnight can be pre-ordered on all DSPs, and fans who pre-order the album in digital format will receive “Midnight Sun” as well as “Stay” (With WYNNE), “Heart” (feat. Shallou) and “Drive” (with Panama). “Heart” featuring Shallou soared to the #1 spot on the Sirius XM Chill chart and has amassed nearly 12 million streams.

Lost at Midnight also features collaborations with Vancouver Sleep Clinic, Saint Sinner, LOWES, Au/Ra and Emerson Leif. Overall, there is a coherent sound of meticulously crafted beats and out of this world synth tones as well as emotional piano melodies that go deep into one’s core.

Chadwick discovered his talent for music in 2012 when he experimented on a run-down piano in his college dorm lobby. After taking on an internship in Japan in 2014, he lived in the small town of Kurashiki, he found himself with no friends especially due to a major language barrier. To help with the extreme isolation, he purchased a keyboard along with a train pass to spend his time creating music and gaining inspiration from traveling to bigger cities. Upon his return to the University of Cincinnati, Chadwick continued his music and began releasing under the name OTR, a nod to Over-the-Rhine, a recently revamped area around downtown Cincinnati. Currently based in Atlanta, the 26 year-old recorded most of Lost at Midnight in his apartment, finding new elements that showcase his signature sound.
