Getter Surprises Fans with New Single “Ham Sandwich”

On Tuesday afternoon, Tanner Petulla, more commonly known as Getter, made the announcement via Twitter that a new single “Ham Sandwich” would be released at midnight.

The only promotion was through a tweet that displayed the cover art of a gruesome bloodshot eye inside a ham sandwich, and longtime fans were speculating that it could sound like the hard-hitting bangers that Getter started his career with. In fact, their guesses were not far off since it had a grimy quality that was similar to his older production techniques. Overall, the single appears to be more of a bridge between his previous music and new unique direction.

After the track dropped, the DJ joked on Twitter about how people thought that he went “soft” with his music–likely referring to his drastic change in sound on his most recent album, Visceral which came out this past September. The album may have been divergent with more delicate sounds, but it was captivating due to the deeper emotional connection that it fostered between Getter and his listeners.

Since then, Getter has clearly demonstrated his ability to succeed in multiple genres. He has been working on a compilation of projects, including his rap alter-ego, Terror Reid, which just had a new release last week called “Buried Alive.” It seems that his fan base has been supporting his creative liberties, especially with the ongoing Visceral Live tour. There is no doubt that Getter will continue to stand out with expectations of more eccentric sounds to be unleashed.
