Modestep Returns with First LP in a Decade

After more than a decade since his last full-length project, Modestep is proud to release his highly anticipated album Give Up The Ghost. Serving as the album’s emotional and euphoric finale, the lead single “Limerence (feat. Cassyette)” dropped September 3, setting the stage for the record’s release. With its emotional highs, powerful production, and future-facing themes, the project explores what it means to be human in an age of artificial creativity, while pushing the boundaries of live instrumentation and electronic music.

“Give Up The Ghost is a dark look at the future of the music industry, where AGI will be abused to take the role of human artists. Will it create depressed robots? Will systems fall in love? Will organic music prevail? With my innovative use of live instruments and blend of drum & bass, dubstep & rock, I set out to create a soundscape for a dystopian world that may be here sooner than expected.” – Modestep

“Limerence” is a rush of emotional chaos wrapped in high-energy drum & bass. It captures the euphoric, obsessive kind of love that burns fast and hard — where you lose yourself chasing a high that never truly lasts. The lyrics paint that rush vividly, from “hotter days, hotter nights / chemicals in our minds” to the soaring hook “show you how high we can go / all the way up.”
Cassyette’s vocal performance brings a rare mix of raw power and vulnerability, making the track an unforgettable closing chapter for Give Up The Ghost.

“It felt like the perfect final chapter for Give Up The Ghost, which is all about confronting the ghosts we carry emotionally and creatively. I’d wanted to work with Cassyette for years — she has that rare mix of raw power and vulnerability in her voice, and I knew she’d bring the intensity this track needed. We wrote it together in one explosive session, building from something haunting and intimate into this full-blown, high-energy DnB drop. It’s emotional chaos wrapped in euphoria — the sound of falling fast and not looking back.” – Modestep

Give Up The Ghost is Modestep’s first album in 10 years and his most ambitious work yet a dark, sonically diverse look at the future of music and creativity.
