Cloudrider & Delayz Join Forces for “Damage Control”

Cloudrider and Delayz join forces for “Damage Control”, a driving club cut. “I make raves and disrupt the dancefloor” spits the dripping-with-attitude vocal, immediately setting the tone for Cloudrider and Delayz’s infectious methods of production, exciting in its initial thrill. Built with a distinctly funky, B-boy sensibility, the production draws from what feels like a swagger, rhythmic unpredictability and raw attitude, translating these attributes into a club-focused framework. Lunging synth stabs and manipulated melodic fragments hit with a chopped ’n’ screwed feel, twisting and reshaping around the groove for an original take on house and electronic music as it straddles between genres.

There is a playful sense of movement running throughout the production, with the rhythm constantly shifting its weight as crisp percussion and a rolling low-end lock together. Rather than following a conventional formula, ‘Damage Control’ injects a sense of breakdance energy into the dancefloor, pairing its foundation with attitude, rhythmic character and, most importantly, fun. The result is funky, off-kilter and full of personality, with the production leaving plenty of space for its vocal to cut through and command attention.

As swishes of tonal elements gradually draw in towards the latter third of the track, the tension builds before everything is pedalled up to the max. Breakbeat whirls come crashing into focus, adding another rhythmic layer and pushing the track into a frenetic final stretch. It is this combination that gives “Damage Control” its individuality, delivering a dancefloor cut that feels playful, unpredictable and distinctly its own.
