B Jones Drops “Stronger”
Lyrics, titles … They have a habit of taking on lives of their own, adding extra layers of meaning — sometimes far, far beyond their original intentions. This February’s “Side Effects” by B Jones was one such example and following her pen-to-paper writing of its song, “Stronger” will doubtless be another.
Both now carry that extra echo of the circumstances the DJ/producer found herself in at the start of this year.Following her lymphoma diagnosis and the battle she’s been forced to fight beyond club and studio walls, ‘Stronger’s strength-against-adversity grain could scarcely run deeper.
Her lyrics find the resolve needed to meet life’s hardest chapters, while keeping the flame not just alight, but burning bright. The song’s “storms” and “scars” are cast as the very elements that forge her resilience, and by the time ‘Stronger’s chorus hits, the headwinds themselves are being harnessed as a higher power.
Says B Jones of the track, “Stronger is more than a title; it is a testament to survival. This song, along with the music I’ve been creating over the past months, was written in the heart of my battle with cancer, a time when music became my lifeline and my greatest weapon.
It’s about the scars we don’t always see and the internal storms we face. Producing this anthem while navigating treatment was my way of reclaiming my power. Every difficult chapter can become the foundation for something more powerful, and for me, music has always been the way to transform that pain into light.
My hope is that when people hear this track, they don’t just hear a song, they feel the pulse of someone who refused to let the darkness win. We are all capable of being stronger than our circumstances.”
Around “Stronger” lyrical fortitude, Bea has packed a trance-fired primetimer — one whose early stages ripple with sub-melody and are propelled onwards by an infective one-note bassline. “Stronger”, however, saves its heart-in-mouth key changes and floor-ripping mainline for when the crowd need them most.
