Max Dean Takes on 2000s Classic With Updated Rendition of “The Way I Are”

Breakthrough London DJ/producer Max Dean steps firmly into the spotlight with his official remix of Timbaland’s era-defining 2007 smash, “The Way I Are.” Out now via Interscope – what was originally a global chart-topper that helped define the sound of late-2000s pop and club culture – the newly released track’s instantly recognizable synth line and attitude-forward vocals made it a crossover staple between hip-hop, pop, and electronic music.

Dean’s remix taps directly into that nostalgia while reshaping it for today’s dancefloors, injecting crisp house grooves and contemporary low-end without sacrificing the original’s unmistakable swagger — resulting in a fresh resurgence of a timeless club record.

The release arrives during a breakout run for Dean, recently named by Mixmag as “arguably the most exciting and hotly tipped newcomer on the tech-house circuit.” His rise has been accelerated by the viral success of “Can’t Decide” with Locky and Luke Dean, which earned Best Track at the 2025 DJ Mag Best of British Awards and has surpassed 48 million streams on Spotify.

Keeping the momentum flowing, Dean continues to expand his footprint through NEXUP RECZ, the label and event brand he runs alongside cousin Luke Dean. Together they’ve conducted and/or produced massive takeovers at DRUMSHEDS, The Warehouse Project, Space Miami, and the pair will be at Coachella 2026 for back-to-back weekends on April 10 and 17, 2026.
