Kygo Debuts New Collaborations With Dillon Francis, Sia at Ultra and Coachella

The originator of tropical house—a dance music genre that was created by his own fans—has debuted a new collaboration at the Ultra Music Festival and Coachella Music & Arts Festivals, respectively.

Kygo wrapped up March 2015 with a highly anticipated closing performance on Sunday, March 29 at Miami’s Ultra Music Festival Live Stage followed by a showcase at the Coachella Mojave Tent in Indio, CA this past Sunday, April 12. Both live sets encompassed a slew of new productions, remixes, and collaborations from the 23-year-old Norwegian DJ and producer.

Born Kyree, Kygo has risen to the top of the dance music scene with his notable remixes of Ed Sheeran “I See Fire,” Seinabo Sey’s “Younger,” Dolly Parton’s “Jolene,” The Weeknd “Often,” and of course, his rendition of Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing.”

During his Ultra ensemble, Kygo premiered a new collaboration with Sia titled “Oasis” as well as his Dillon Francis collaboration, “Coming Over,” which features vocals from James Hersey. Kygo’s most recent solo vocal release, “Stole The Show,” which features Parson James, is a lyrical gem that properly showcases Kygo’s distinct production ability.

Joining Kygo at Coachella’s Mojave for live vocal performances were James Hersey for “Coming Over” and another new original track, and Conrad Sewell for the recently successful “Firestone.”

Incorporating live elements to his DJ sets, Kygo delivers a refreshing and innovative take on dance music. With his eclectic signature sound, he fuses styles from a variation of EDM sub-genres, which is a result of him going against the grain, as he told Jason Bentley during a Coachella Live interview. The producer and DJ also made fans aware of his “Coming Over” collaboration with Dillon Francis, which he performed at Ultra in Miami late last month. Seeing “non-traditional” success from his diversity and subtlety, Kygo’s melodic electronic music is certainly here to stay.
