Armin van Buuren Draws Thousands to New Omnia Nightclub in Las Vegas During EDC Week

It was the first time that the new Omnia Nightclub—which is located at Caesars Palace—has seen EDC Week, and it’s safe to say that it certainly won’t be the last. Thousands of electronic music lovers gathered at the colossal new event space, which is operated by the prestigious Hakkasan Group. Trance-master and Armada Music boss Armin van Buuren put Omnia attendees into “A State of Trance” this past Friday, June 20, which marked the start of EDC Weekend in Sin City.

Omnia Nightclub, which is one of The Strip’s newest and most lavishly built venues, offers partygoers a multi-room experience. The 75,000 square-foot multi-level destination lives up to expectations and sets the bar even higher for Las Vegas nightlife. Decadence at its finest, Omnia offers a monstrous main room, which is one of the biggest and most open in Las Vegas. Additionally, the venue possesses a terrace on the nightclub’s rooftop, which offers exceptional views of The Strip.

Starting his set at 1 a.m., van Buuren began with his intro edit of his Mark Sixma collaboration, “Panta Rhei.” Armin’s three-hour showcase encompassed some new productions, remixes, and mash-ups, as well as some classic big-room trance selections. Showcasing the first single from his upcoming studio album, “Another You (Headhunterz Remix),” which features Mr Probz, van Buuren’s nightclub set was nothing short of a trance spectacular.

With the size of the crowd at Omnia Nightclub during Armin van Buuren’s set, it was hard to remember that one of the largest electronic music festivals in the world (EDC Las Vegas) was taking place just miles from the new nightspot. Nightclubbers were serenated by an Armin van Buuren soundtrack on their Saturday, which consisted of: Gaia “Empire Of Hearts,” “Above & Beyond “We’re All We Need” featuring Zoe Johnston with Talemono “Overload,” Faithless’ “Insomnia (Andrew Rayel Remix),” Eric Prydz “Generate” with “Personal Jesus,” Dash Berlin & Emma Hewitt “Waiting,” Photographer & Abstract Vision “Zero Gravity,” Jorn van Deynhoven “Freaks,” and his Andrew Rayel collaboration, “EIFORYA.”

Controlling the lights throughout the entire main floor during portions of his set, van Buuren wore MYO motion-sensor bracelets on his arms. As the only DJ to use these motion-sensor bracelets, which control the direction of the lighting, the motion-capture controls are entirely triggered by Armin and synced with the lighting. Omnia adorns an enormous LED constructed monstrosity above the center of the main dance floor, which resembles a spaceship ornamented in lights, as it hovers above the crowd in up-and-down and in-and-out motions.
