Croatia moves forward with headline Trance festival Awake this summer

As Croatia is recovering significantly from the COVID pandemic, it is still unclear what the overall damage to the festival scene is. Several other Croatian festivals, including Dimensions and Outlook, are either being postponed or canceled this year. It is great to see that one of the anticipated trance festivals of the year, AWAKE is happening. From August 20-23, people can celebrate underneath the sun and the stars. It might be one of the very few live music events taking place this summer.

Whereas thousands of people usually flock towards AWAKE each year, the organizers had to make a difficult decision. With current conditions, the organizers were not able to have their initially planned first day in Cocomo club since it’s an indoor venue. Whereas the outdoor events are only allowed to have up to 1,000 attendees, for indoor venues this number is even lower. Because of a reduced capacity of 1.000 party people, the four-day event will take place in the Noa and Kalypso open-air clubs. Those are at one of the nations tourist hotspots, Zrce Beach. The incredible boat parties that are usually a big part of the event are on hold for the time being. Unfortunately, we won’t see these unless some last-minute special arrangements are being made for them.

Lineup

Trance and progressive fans can rejoice over a massive and versatile lineup. The organizers have gone great lengths to bring you the best trance and progressive artists for this event. The lucky few that are attending this event get a chance to see legends such as Paul van Dyk, Aly & Fila, Alex Morph, Cosmic Gate, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Ronski Speed, Sander van Doorn and many more. To top things off, AWAKE will host a world exclusive UV pool party. The pool party will be hosted by the Future Sound of Egypt label’s bosses Paul Thomas and Aly & Fila. People will be able to see them go B2B for five hours. This will be one of the rare opportunities to dance underneath the stars this summer, listening to the finest trance and progressive music.

To clarify, over the past few weeks Croatia has fought the ongoing pandemic successfully. They are reporting almost no new cases at all. As a result, the Croatian borders are open for tourists again. Almost 700,000 tourists enjoyed their holiday in Croatia these last few weeks. With more tourists arriving each day, it is a strong enough statement that currently Croatia is indeed being recognized as one of the safest countries in Europe. If the attendees are cautious and follow the safety measures, this could be a huge step towards hosting bigger events.
